PTC Airport Authority adopts six month budget By JOHN
MUNFORD
Although no aircraft were flying in or out of Falcon Field, that didn't stop the Peachtree City Airport Authority from meeting Wednesday night. The authority adopted a six-month budget for October through March that includes a priority on setting aside funds to increase its reserve account. The budget calls for $8,000 a month to be transferred from the regular cash account to the authority's reserve account. The goal is to have the reserves back up to $100,000, said authority chairwoman Cathy Nelmes. The entire six-month budget shows a net profit of just over $4,300. At its previous meeting, several authority members worried about the dwindling status of the reserve account, which was down to $36,000 last month. The authority will be receiving an additional $10,000 a month soon, a result of the increased hotel-motel tax revenues when the City Council increased the rate from three to five percent earlier this year. At Wednesday's meeting, Airport Manager Jim Savage reminded the authority of the two different employee pay raise proposals he presented to them in executive session last month. Savage said he has good employees and he wants to be sure and keep them. "We encourage you to save as much money as you possibly can," Nelmes said, adding that the authority would consider raises as soon as the reserve goal was met. Nelmes recently met with a number of Falcon Field employees to explain why the authority wants to place a priority on building the cash reserves. The authority has six full-time and nine part-time employees.
