Patriotic rally set for Sunday

Residents in Fayette and Coweta counties who want to pay tribute to the USA should make a beeline to Peachtree City Sunday.

"A Tribute to the American Spirit" starts at 3 p.m. at Shakerag Knoll in Peachtree City. The event is sponsored by VFW Post 9949 and American Legion Post 105, along with a generous assist from city officials.

The patriotic tribute coincides with the Shakerag Arts and Crafts Festival, but Peachtree City Public Information Officer Betsy Tyler said the festival will be suspended to allow residents to show their spirit after this week's tragic events in New York and Washington.

Tyler said patriotic music will be supplied by the Peachtree City Wind Ensemble and encourages all military personnel to attend the event in their uniforms.

There is parking near the site, but Tyler also said residents can bike, walk or ride a golf cart to the site.
