Council qualifying is coming up

Anyone wanting to run for Fayetteville City Council this fall has three days to qualify.

The official qualifying period begins Monday at 8:30 a.m. and closes Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. The fee is $180.

Seats in Posts 3, 4 and 5 are up for grabs. All three incumbents Walt White, Larry Dell and Al Hovey-King have publicly declared their intentions to run.

The election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 6, with the city utilizing two polling places the LaFayette Educational Center and the Fayette County Library for the first time.

The deadline for voter registration is Oct. 9.
