Part of Dividend Drive will be closed to northbound traffic for annual air show By JOHN MUNFORD
With the popular Wings Over Dixie Air Show at Falcon Field Saturday and Sunday, local residents can expect heavy traffic in the area. Those going to the show and wishing to avoid traffic are encouraged to use the shuttle buses available at the Starr's Mill High School campus. From 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days, traffic on Dividend Drive will be restricted to southbound traffic only from TDK Boulevard to Ga. Highway 74 , according to Capt. Stan Pye of the Peachtree City Police Department. Exceptions will be made for golf carts and motorcycles, which will be allowed to proceed north, he added. During that time frame, the road will be cordoned into three lanes the right lane for buses, the center lane for golf carts and motorcycles and the left lane for southbound vehicle traffic. Officers will be stationed at Hwy. 74 and Crosstown Road to assist golf carts with crossing onto the path system, Pye said. That way, the carts don't have to drive all the way up to Kelly Drive to access the path system, he said. No parking will be allowed on Hwy. 74. Most parking available on-site at the airport will be at the south end of the runway, Pye added. During the air show, access to the main terminal will be restricted and holes five and six on the Planterra Ridge golf course will be closed since they are in the flight line path of the aircraft. Also, the first aid tent at the show will be located adjacent to the main hangar building, Pye said.
