PTC youngsters may be allowed to drive cart under grandparents' care The age restrictions for young golf cart operators in Peachtree City may be tweaked by the City Council Thursday night. The ages themselves wouldn't change under the proposal. Instead, children ages 12 through 14 would also be allowed to drive a cart if a grandparent accompanies them in the front seat. Currently, those children can only operate a golf cart with a parent or legal guardian in the front seat. When children reach the age of 15, they are required to ride with a person at least 18 years old who has a valid driver's license. At 16, youths can drive golf carts on their own. The proposal was requested by Councilman Dan Tennant, according to a memo issued to council members. Council will discuss the matter during its regular meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
