Hospital expands with two new centers

Fayette Community Hospital has opened two new service areas in the Fayette Medical Clinic building.

Minor emergency care and outpatient diagnostics will now be offered at the center.

"The hospital has seen a significant increase in ER and diagnostic visits since opening three years ago," said Darrell Cutts, CEO. "Accessibility is at the forefront of patient demands. The Minor Emergency Care and Outpatient Diagnostic Center provides an ideal opportunity for us to meet these needs while maintaining the hospital's quality of care."

Fayette Medical Clinic is 1.7 miles east of the hospital on Ga. Highway 54.

Patients with emergencies that are not perceived to be life, limb or vision threatening, including chest pain, will be referred to the Minor Emergency Care facility. If the situation might indicate hospital admission, though, patients should phone 911 or go to the hospital Emergency Department. Minor Emergency Care is open seven days a week, including holidays, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The outpatient Diagnostic Center accepts patients by appointment with physician referral. With diagnostic services available at two locations, appointment lead times will be shorter, Cutts said. The center is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The expanded hospital services are owned, operated and managed by the hospital. Physicians are credentialed by FCH, and staff is employed by the hospital. The new service areas also will accept the same insurance accepted a the hospital.

A not-for-profit subsidiary of Piedmont Medical Center and member of PROMINA Health System, FCH is on Hwy. 54 in Fayetteville. Services of the 100-bed facility include 24-hour emergency room, medical/surgical, critical care, diagnostics including laboratory, radiology and mammography, respiratory, physical therapy and rehabilitation, outpatient surgery and comprehensive outpatient services.
