Affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in America, the Redemption Fellowship Presbyterian Church is one of several churches in the Atlanta area established by the Perimeter Ministries International.

PMI is an organization searching out African American pastors to join in its vision to reach every social, economic and ethnic people group and to pastor their needs.

Redemption Fellowship was organized in 1995 and acquired its current facility in 1997.

Approximately 200 members take part throughout the week in 6:30 a.m. prayer service Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and many participate in Bible study each Wednesday noon.

Pastor the Rev. Mike Higgins brings with him a rich background. Entering the United States Army at age 22, he served 11 years. The lieutenant colonel has served as a Reserve chaplain for another 11 years.

He received his master's of divinity at Covenant Seminary in St. Louis, where he was born and reared. Adding to his ability to minister to those with problems is the fact that he has Tourette's syndrome. "The Lord has been very good to me," he said, "and I look at this adversity as a tool he has given me to effectively minister to others."

Higgins and his wife, Renée, are the parents of two girls, Mary and Michelle. The girls attend Covenant College, at Lookout Mountain, Tenn. They have been active in inner city ministry in Atlanta and are interested in following in that direction.

Church services are at 11 a.m. Sunday and Wednesday "Family Night" is at 7 p.m.

The church is at 418 Ga. Highway 279 in Fayetteville and can be reached at 770-460-1220.
