Christian retreat finds a home By JOHN
THOMPSON
Eastern Coweta County will soon have a Christian retreat. The Coweta County Commission voted unanimously Tuesday night to rezone 5.5 acres just outside of Senoia on Chestlehurst Road from Rural Reserve to C-4 Commercial. Rev. Jacquelyn Ponder and Billy Ponder plan to establish a Christian retreat for residents in Coweta County and other areas to enjoy. The center will be similar to a hotel and offer meals, but Commissioner Vernon "Mutt" Hunter stipulated that no alcohol sales would be allowed on the premises. In other news, the commission: ·Executed a contract with the state Department of Transportation to provide signage and a master plan for the county's proposed bicycle path network. The paths will wound throughout the county and provide a seamless route for weekend adventure seekers or alternative transportation enthusiasts to get around the county. The contact requires Coweta County to pay $20,000, while the DOT kicks in $80,000. ·Accepted a $31,660 law enforcement block grant to provide cameras in patrol cars. The grant requires a 50 percent match by Coweta County, but Sheriff Mike Yeager said he could use funds from drug raids to pay for the match.
