Free, reduced-price meals available

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced its 2001-02 income guidelines for free and reduced-price meals served under the school breakfast and lunch programs administered by the Georgia Department of Education.

Students from households with incomes at or below the established levels are eligible.

Foster children may be eligible regardless of family income. A foster child's eligibility is based on the child's income.

Income ranges run from $11,167 a year for a one-person household to $38,649 for a household of eight for free lunches; $15,892 to $55,001 for reduced-price meals.

For information, talk to the school principal, system superintendent or write to the School and Community Nutrition Program of the Georgia Department of Education, 1662 Twin Towers East, Atlanta, GA 30334.
