Oak Grove principal kicked upstairs By DAVE
HAMRICK
Another school principal is making the transition to the central Board of Education office. Debbie Wheat, principal of Oak Grove Elementary School, will join the central office as reading coordinator as soon as a replacement can be found for her. The Board of Education Monday approved the promotion as part of three pages of resignations, reclassifications and new hires. Wheat will continue to serve at Oak Grove while the School System advertises for and interviews candidates to replace her. It's hoped a replacement will be named by October, said system public information officer Melinda Berry-Dreisbach. Among other key promotions, Sandy Creek High School guidance counselor Richard Lorton was named assistant principal to replace Bob Hokkanen, and J.C. Booth Middle School teacher Sharlene Patterson moved up to assistant principal at Sandy Creek to replace Roy Rabold, who recently was named principal of Fayette County High.
