Fayette now
94,500 and counting . . .
Fayette County's population is now 94,500, according to April 2001 estimates by the Atlanta Regional Commission staff. The ARC Board of Directors will consider officially adopting those estimates at its meeting Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Fayette's figure shows an increase of 3,237 persons, or 3.5 percent, from the official U.S. Census figure of 91,263 in 2000. The increase will be used to calculate an increase in the county's annual dues to ARC, which are based on population. If approved, Fayette's dues will be $87,050, compared to $84,136.70 last year.
