Incumbents to run again for council seats

With three City Council seats up for grabs this fall, three people so far have made public their intentions to run for those seats: the three who already occupy them.

With no one having formally declared his or her candidacy for the seats in Posts 3, 4 and 5 as of two weeks ago, the three incumbents Walt White, Larry Dell and Al Hovey-King were asked shortly after the council's Aug. 8 work session if they would be running again. All three said that they would.

Qualifying for the election is the week of Sept. 10-14. The election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 6.

For the first time, there will be two polling places for Fayetteville voters. With the districts essentially split along Ga. Highway 54, the northern half will vote at the LaFayette Educational Center, while the southern half votes at the Fayette County Library. Previous elections were held at the Depot.
