Fayetteville police offer self defense, awareness class

The Fayetteville Police Department is offering a self-defense and situational awareness class Monday, Aug. 27, at 7 p.m. at City Hall.

The class will focus on a variety of ways individuals can enhance their personal safety and that of their families. Topics to be covered include various survival, protection, prevention and escape techniques.

The importance of maintaining awareness in different environments will also be covered along with checklists of security tips for the home, children, and automobile.

The class is one way the department is reaching out to the community to reduce crime through prevention education and promoting personal safety.

People of all ages are encouraged to attend the program. Space is limited so participants are encouraged to register early.
