Starlight makes computer wish come true for PTC youngster

A Peachtree City youth who has been in and out of the hospital with medical problems had a special wish answered recently by the Starlight Children's Foundation.

Aedrian Copeland was presented with a brand new computer, complete with extra software, a modem and a CD burner. Over a year and a half ago, the 17-year-old suffered a stroke as a result of a staph infection. Since then, he has had many medical challenges, spent a lot of time in hospitals and undergone many surgical procedures.

About a year after the stroke, Copeland was referred to the foundation to have a wish granted. He has also participated in Starlight's Kids Activity Network events, which have included a variety of special outings for sick children and their families. Through this program, Copeland has gone to an Atlanta Hawks game, an Atlanta Thrashers game and attended Starlight's 2001 prom.

Copeland, who participates in a band, plans to use the computer to download music from the Internet. He lives with his mother and four younger siblings.

The foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for seriously ill children and their families. The Atlanta chapter brings joy to Georgia's ill children by granting wishes, sponsoring monthly themed hospital parties, hosting special events and placing Fun Centers in Georgia pediatric hospitals.
