State funds coming for Sandy Creek

Sandy Creek High School is the beneficiary of some additional state education funds thanks to a recent announcement by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.

A pair of $25,000 local assistance allotments were provided for inclusion in the county school system's upcoming annual budget. These contracts are expected to fund new Internet-ready computers as well as a heating and air system for a new athletic facility at Sandy Creek.

The contracts call for the funds to be completely disbursed within 20 days of the state's receipt of the executed agreement, which was approved by the Fayette County Board of Education at its July meeting.
