Light for MacDuff should be activated in next few days

For the past few days, it has been up but not fully activated.

But city officials expect the new traffic light for MacDuff Parkway on Ga. Highway 54 will be operational any day.

The light will replace the current traffic signal at the entrance to Wynnmeade subdivision. That intersection will become a right-in, right-out only location.

To gain eastbound access to Hwy. 54, Wynnmeade residents will use another access road to reach MacDuff Parkway.

The traffic light relocation was the major sticking point that kept all the other apartment buildings at the Summit Apartments from being occupied. The complex, which is the first new residential development in the area, contains a total of 399 units.

Three other subdivisions are planned to have access to MacDuff Parkway, including Cedarcroft, which is just north of the apartment complex and is already under construction.
