Firemen, cops face off in annual battle By JOHN MUNFORD jmunford@TheCitizenNews.com A number of public safety agencies in Fayette County are competing against each other for the championship in the annual Public Safety Competition. The Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services is defending the title it won last year. Also competing for top honors are the Fayette County Sheriff's Department, the Fayetteville Police Department, the Fayetteville Fire Department and the Peachtree City Police Department. Events are slated to wrap up Saturday evening at McCurry Park. The events include basketball, volleyball, bowling, softball, tennis and golf tournaments. Other special events include a biathlon, an obstacle course and a home run derby. Teams placing in the top three of each event are awarded points.
