Elementary students to get more instruction time

Fayette's elementary school students will be receiving extra instructional time with the start of the new academic year.

Instead of the usual 8 a.m. start time, classes at all elementary schools will begin at 7:45 a.m. According to Pam Riddle, executive director of elementary school operations, the extra 15 minutes of instructional time is needed in order for teachers to more effectively cover the requirements of the elementary curriculum.

Although classes are starting earlier, buses will pick up students at their regular pick up times. Additionally, buses will not drop off students at their schools before 7:20 a.m.
