Fayetteville announces fall election

Qualifying periods for upcoming Fayetteville City Council elections have been announced and should be made official next week.

Three council seats will be up for grabs this fall: Post 3, currently held by Larry Dell; Post 4, held by Walt White; and Post 5, held by Al Hovey-King.

The election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 6, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. There will be two polling places for city voters this year the Fayette County Library at 1821 Heritage Park Way, and the LaFayette Educational Center at 205 Lafayette Ave.

Anyone wishing to qualify as a candidate for one of these seats can do so beginning Sept. 10 at 8:30 a.m. Qualifying ends Sept. 12 at 4:30 p.m. The qualifying fee is $180.

The voter registration deadline for this election is Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 4:30 p.m.

The council is expected to approve a call to election at next Thursday's regular council meeting.
