Course offered for Latino food-servers Spanish-speaking food service employees are encouraged to sign up for higiene en el servicio de alimento (hygiene in food service), a course offered by the Georgia Cooperative Extension Service. The deadline for registration is July 20, or as space permits. The course will be offered in Spanish Aug. 8 from 12:30 - 3:30 p.m., for $7. Residents will participate via distance-learning technology at several locations in Georgia, including Atlanta Metropolitan College. Topics will include basic food safety, personal hygiene, the role of timing and temperature, cross-contamination, and cleaning and sanitizing. Upon completion, each participant will receive a certificate from the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service. For information phone the Cooperative Extension Service at 706-542-2920.
