Film series starts tonight

The Atlanta History Center is offering the "Summer Sizzles Film Series" starting this Friday with the film "Body Heat."

"Body Heat" is the story of a seedy small town lawyer who falls in with Matty Walker, a married woman. An affair begins and soon they realize that the only thing standing in their way is Matty's husband. A plot hatches to kill him but will they pull it off?

Few devices have provided authors and filmmakers with as an abundant source of dramatic tensions, steamy relationships and lush settings as the long, hot, sultry days and nights of Southern summers. Each film in the "Summer Sizzles" series is set in the South. Other films in the series include "Cool Hand Luke" July 27; "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof" Aug. 10 and "In The Heat of The Night" Aug. 24.

Tickets are $12 for each film or $40 for the series for non-members and are $9 and $30 for members. There will be old-fashioned movie candies available, musical performances, and movie trivia from experts and historians. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the movies begin at 8 p.m. Phone 404-814-4000 for directions.
