Emergency worker earns extra credentials

The Atlanta-Fulton County Emergency Management Agency recognized one of its own employees Wednesday as the first person in Georgia to receive a graduate degree in the field.

Robert Hassett, AFCEMA Emergency Information Systems Coordinator, recently earned a Graduate Certificate of Emergency Management from Georgia State University.

He received the certificate during a 1 p.m. ceremony in the AFCEMA Emergency Operations Center on the parking level of the Fulton County Public Safety Building.

Georgia State University is the first school system in the state to offer a graduate program for students with careers in emergency management, emergency response and public safety.

The AFCEMA coordinates planning and response by public agencies to natural and man-made disasters and emergencies.
