Metro Brokers changes affiliation to GMAC Real Estate

Metro Brokers/Better Homes and Gardens, one of Metropolitan Atlanta's largest residential real estate companies, recently announced that the company has changed its name to Metro Brokers/GMAC Real Estate.

The transition was effective last month, when the company finished distributing new yard signs to it's more than 900 associates, according to Kevin Levent, president of Metro Brokers/GMAC Real Estate.

Metro Brokers, which is remaining an independently owned company, has been a part of the national franchise known as GMAC Real Estate since 1998, when GMAC Home Services purchased the rights to Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate from Meredith Corp., publishers of Better Homes and Gardens magazine.

"We believe now is the right time to capitalize on our affiliation with GMAC and add the brand name power of one of the world's largest and most successful companies to our name," Levent said.

GMAC Real Estate, based in Liberty Corner, N.J., is an international network of residential real estate companies known for providing outstanding customer service and industry-leading marketing programs. The network, comprised of both franchised companies and company-owned real estate companies, has more than 1,400 offices and more than 22,000 licensed sales professionals and is a division of GMAC Home Services.

GMAC Home Services, with divisions in real estate, relocation and mortgage, is part of one of the world's largest and most successful financial services companies, GMAC. GMAC is the financial arm of General Motors.

Metro Brokers is using the switch to GMAC as an opportunity to alter its own logo as well, Levent said. The old Metro Brokers logo that has been used since the company was founded in 1979 is changing to an easier-to-read font with the words ".com" below the Metro Brokers name. A cursor arrow to the side of the ".com" punctuates the logo and gives the consumer a call to action.

"This new logo does not mean that we're a 'dot.com' company," Levent said. "We simply recognize that our web site has become the primary point of contact for customers."

Metro Brokers is a full service real estate company with 19 offices in the Metropolitan Atlanta area, including its office in the new Peachtree Promenade shopping center at 2100 Highway 54 East and Shakerag Hill in Peachtree City (across the highway from Dairy Queen). In addition to residential real estate brokerage, the company provides financial, insurance, and corporate relocation services, as well as commercial real estate brokerage and corporate new homes marketing. The company sold more than $1.5 billion in real estate in 2000.
