PTC will get third Kroger at former Harris Teeter site

The former Harris Teeter grocery store in Peachtree City will indeed become a Kroger. The Peachtree City Council approved a new alcohol license for the store at the request of Kroger officials. Russell Stewart of Kroger said the former Harris Teeter store, at the Peachtree Crossings shopping center, will have a "soft opening" Thursday followed by a grand reopening two or three weeks later. Kroger purchased a handful of Harris Teeter stores in metro Atlanta several weeks ago. Time is of the essence to get the store reopened so shoppers used to patronizing the store aren't inconvenienced, Stewart noted. Councilman Dan Tennant had asked if the company planned to abandon the store at a later date. Stewart said the company plans to keep the store at its current location. With the recent addition of Harry's in a Hurry at The Avenue in Peachtree City, that leaves Peachtree City with five grocery stores not including the Publix that's under construction on Ga. Highway 74 south.
