Palmetto's government will see a benefit of between $347,000 and $409,000 if Coweta voters approve a special purpose sales tax Sept. 18.

Coweta's municipalities will finalize their proposed projects for the vote July 24.

Representatives of the municipalities met Tuesday morning to discuss priorities.

County Administrator Theron Gay told the leaders that $35 million of the funds is earmarked for a new justice center.

Gay said the county had projected $88 million in funds generated over a five-year period with a 7.5 percent growth rate.

But if the county grows 11 percent a year, nearly $98 million would be generated.

Palmetto is partially in Coweta County. City Administrator Bill Shell said the funds would be used for street and sewer system improvements.

Gay asked all the cities to have their lists ready by the July 24 meeting.

"I would go conservative on the project budgets, because the justice center has to be paid first," he said.

The July 24 meeting is set for 4 p.m. at the Administrative Complex.
