Senoia hires new police chief By JOHN
THOMPSON
After seven months, Senoia Police Chief Julian Crowder can remove the "interim" term from his title. The Senoia City Council unanimously approved a two-year contract Monday night for Crowder to serve as the town's top cop. The contract pays Crowder a base salary of $36,000, along with two weeks vacation. The two weeks for vacation is something that Mayor Joan Trammell wants to see implemented for all department heads, who currently receive one week of paid leave. "Let's start with Julian and then look at our next meeting for doing this for all department heads," said Trammell. Should Crowder decide to leave the city, he must give the city at least two months notice of his intentions. If the city decides to get rid of Crowder without a just cause, it must pay him two months severance pay. The contract is retroactive to July 1, and Crowder thanked the city for the opportunity to serve. Crowder is the second officer from Peachtree City to assume the top job in Senoia's Police Department. Former Chief Ben Thomas, who resigned in December, also worked many years in Peachtree City.
