Camp program in full bloom Peachtree City's Camp McIntosh participants received a special treat when Covered In Bloom Nursery off Malone Road in Fayetteville donated a truckload of flowers. The flowers are being used as part of the camp program to teach kids how to plant and care for flowers. Under the guidance of Master Gardener Bon Woods of the Fayette County Cooperative Extension Service, the children will plant and tend the flowers in the Huddleston Elementary courtyard. Covered In Bloom Nursery donated the flowers in conjunction with its annual truckload sale. Camp McIntosh coordinator Bernice Wassell developed the gardening program as a means of teaching kids about plants, and also to give back to the school. "The school staff has graciously allowed us to use the school gymnasium and grounds for our camp, and we wanted to give something in return," said Wassell. By the end of the camp sessions in July, Wassell hopes to have created a well-manicured courtyard for Huddleston children returning to school. Three more of the two-week Camp McIntosh sessions remain: June 18-29; July 2-13 and July 16-27. Camps run Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The sessions include swimming, arts and crafts, field trips, weekly PTC Library summer reading program presentations, themed weekly activities, guest entertainers, games and more.
