Wednesday, June 13, 2001 Apple Orchard readies for grand opening The Apple Orchard, a Dixon Development of "timeless" homes in Fayetteville, is celebrating its Grand Opening Saturday, June 16, from 1-6 p.m. The 50-home community, located on Beauregard Boulevard at its intersection with Grady Avenue, offers Arts & Craft and Victorian reproduction homes priced from the low $200,000s. The Apple Orchard is being developed by Bob Dixon, president and CEO of Dixon Built Homes; his son Chris of Chris Dixon & Associates; and James Allen. Builders in the community are two Dixon Development partnerships, Gary Alford & Associates and Mike Harrell & Associates, plus Jordan Homes, which is headed by Eddie Lanham. Over 20 different floor plans are being offered in the community with each builder contributing his own personal style. The homes contain a lot of molding and other detail work and will have a variety of hardwood flooring and transoms. There have already been eight home sales in The Apple Orchard. Current inventory includes two homes which should be ready for occupancy within 30 days and eight other homes which are in the initial stages of construction. The Apple Orchard, in addition to its "turn-of-the-century" home designs, is in a pedestrian-friendly environment and will have such special features as front porches, rear garages, sidewalks, and alleyways. Near the entrance is a large park with a gazebo and a large play area. Another smaller park on the property has a stocked lake with a fishing dock and front porch-type swings. In preparing the community, the developers left as many trees as possible. Most homes face one of the parks. Roghelia of Lee-Dixon Realty. The Dixon Development organization is headed by Bob Dixon, who has been in home building for nearly 30 years. During that time, he has been recognized as Business Person of the Year by the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce and Builder of the Year by the Home Builders Association of Midwest Georgia, and members of the Dixon Development partnerships have been honored as Best Builder of the Year by the Peachtree City home inspection department three times since the award was created six years ago.
