Edwards, Darnell set town hall meetings

Fulton County District 7 Commissioner William "Bill" Edwards and Vice Chairman Emma I. Darnell will lead discussions about housing during town hall meetings at a southwest Fulton church in June.

Ben Hill United Methodist Church, 2099 Fairburn Road, SW, Atlanta, will be the site of the session June 28.

The 7 p.m. meeting will include presentations on predatory lending and the HOME program, a HUD initiative that makes money available for buying or developing affordable housing.

Many of the approximately 3,000 residential foreclosures that occur annually in Fulton County are due to home lending scams that target African-American and elderly persons.

Staff from the Housing Division of the Fulton County Environment and Community Development Department will present information.
