Libertarians invite commission hopefuls Candidates for County Commission Post 3 are invited to make their campaign pitches during the Fayette County Libertarian Party's monthly meeting next week. The party will meet at the Fayetteville IHOP Thursday, June 14 at 7 p.m. Party Chairman William Norris has presented the open invitation so that the views of the various candidates can be presented, contrasted and discussed. The Libertarian Party of Fayette County, established in March of 1999, is now one of the fastest growing party affiliates in the state, according to Norris. "We will be a force in local and state politics from now on, and the candidate who ultimately wins in the upcoming special election will do so largely with the support of local Libertarians, and we hope they all will come out and present their views," said Norris. Also on the event calendar is the upcoming Don Gorman Political School, which is being sponsored by the state Libertarian Party. Gorman, a four-term incumbent in the Vermont state House, has been teaching various LP organizations around the country about running successful campaigns. As a kick-off to the weekend event, Gorman will stay in Fayette County Friday night and visit with local party members. For information visit www.ga.lp.org or e-mail william.norris@ga.lp.org.
