The Daughters of the American Revolution, Augustin Clayton Chapter, celebrated a year of accomplishments at its annual tea in Fayetteville.

Chapter regent Joyce Patton said that the chapter received 30 awards and certificates at the DAR Continental Congress. It was named fifth in the nation as an Outstanding Chapter and in 1998 it had been named first.

The tea is always in the gardens of member Betty Harrah, Fayetteville, and approximately 60 members attended.

Twenty-five-year member Lu Sharp was recognized for her years of service, which include serving as regent twice.

New members Susan Sherman, Peachtree City, Sherri Roberts, Hampton, Wendy Fox, Newnan, and Gail Broderick, Peachtree City, were installed by chapter registrar Judy Hughes.

Member Barbara Florence brought a national defense message while holding a tri-fold United States flag.

Pointing to a U.S. flag on a standard, she said, "We can't take that for granted until we appreciate this flag [holding up the tri-fold]."

The chapter is eight years old and has grown from 38 original members to 127 current members.
