School calendar in place for next year

Although school just ended last week, Fulton County officials are already preparing for next year.

The new school year begins Aug. 13, one week earlier than last year.

With this new schedule, fall semester ends prior to the winter holidays and the school year ends prior to Memorial Day.

2001-2002 School Calendar

First semester

Aug. 6-10: Pre-planning

Aug. 13: First day of school

Sept. 3: Labor Day holiday

Oct. 1: Teacher conference workday (students off)

Nov. 21-23: Thanksgiving holidays

Dec. 21: End of first semester

Dec. 24 - January 4: Winter holidays

Jan. 7: Teacher workday (students off)

Second Semester

Jan. 8: First day of second semester.

Jan. 21: Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday

Feb. 15-18: Midwinter break

March 4: Teacher workday (students off)

April 8-12: Spring break

May 24: Last day of school.

May 27: Memorial Day holiday

May 28-29: Post-planning.
