Here's one-stop help finding a job

South Fulton residents now have a one-stop center to help them with their careers.

The Comprehensive Career Center is in the Department of Family and Children Services building at 5710 Stonewall Tell Road in College Park.

Fulton County public information officer William Durant said the center will help job-seekers of all skill levels and ages prepare for, and find, work through a partnership of government and private agencies.

The center opened yesterday and Durant said Fulton County plans to open another center in North Fulton soon. Eventually, the county hopes to have up to 21 satellite centers scattered throughout the county.

Career advisors at the center will help identify skills and services needed to land a job and suggest where to seek training.

Durant said users can conduct their own job searches through the Georgia Department of Labor and get help filing for unemployment, and check job databases.

A resource room has helpful computer software, plus a fax machine, phone bank, printers and job search literature.

The center is administered by the county Human Services Department's Office of Workforce Development, with oversight provided by a citizen-based Workforce Investment Board. Partners in the center are the Department of Labor, Family and Children Services, Job Corps, Rehabilitative Services and NCBA, a senior citizens employment agency.
