Sandy Creek's Warr moving to FCHS By DAVE
HAMRICK
Sandy Creek High School Principal Charles Warr, Ph.D., will replace Gary Phillips at Fayette County High School. The Board of Education Tuesday approved the switch along with formally accepting Phillips' resignation. The board will advertise to find a replacement for Warr at Sandy Creek. Also approved was the resignation of Fayette Community School director Jim Pittman, who is leaving the county system to head up the CARE (Children at Risk in Education) program for the region around Fayette. In addition to the personnel changes, the board approved a bid for construction of the Cleveland Elementary School on Old Norton Road off Ga. Highway 54 west, and for additions to two middle schools. Arco Builders Inc. will build the new elementary school for $7.1 million. Construction is expected to start in early July. Ricks Contractors Inc. won the bid to build an addition to Fayette Middle School for $2.1 million, and Leslie Contracting Inc. will build the addition to J.C. Booth Middle for $2.25 million. The projects are included in the school board's recently approved $65 million construction bond referendum.
