Top state positions filled by Fayette teachers

Two math teachers will hold top positions in the Georgia Council of Teachers of Mathematics for the 2001-2002 academic year.

Cathy Franklin of Fayette County High School and Judy Chambers of North Fayette Elementary School will serve as president and vice president, respectively.

Chambers, who has been a long-time member of CGTM, said she sought the office of vice president because she felt that it was time for her to give back to the mathematics community.

"I have found my association with the organization to be a very rewarding one. I am looking forward to serving my term as vice president and helping to promote excellence in mathematics education," said Chambers.

The mission of GCTM is to promote a high quality mathematics education for all students, encourage an active interest in mathematics and in mathematics education, promote ongoing professional development for mathematics education, and promote and reward excellence in the teaching of mathematics in the state of Georgia.
