Wreck on 74 kills PTC woman By JOHN
MUNFORD
A Peachtree City woman was killed after she lost control of her vehicle on Ga. Highway 74 in Tyrone Wednesday afternoon. Mollie Newton, 21, was traveling southbound between Jenkins Road and Sandy Creek Road when her car suddenly entered the grassy median, said Tyrone Police Chief Roger Spencer. Newton swerved the opposite direction and ran off the other side of the road where it struck a culvert and became airborne, the chief said. There are no indications Newton was wearing her seat belt at the time, Spencer said. Witnesses told police that she was driving normally until her 1998 Honda Civic entered the median, Spencer added. Newton was a senior at Georgia Tech, where she was scheduled to graduate this month, Spencer said.
