An armed gunman got away with $1,500 in cash after targeting the Burger King restaurant in Fayetteville early Wednesday morning.

The investigation is ongoing although no arrests have been made, said Fayetteville Police Lt. Tom Kirkbride.

According to a police report, the gunman entered the restaurant with a black handgun and confronted the store manager after 12:30 a.m. The suspect fled the restaurant but it is not clear if he got away on foot or used a vehicle to leave the area, Kirkbride said.

The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 5'11" wearing a black hooded sweat shirt and jeans.

The cash was likely the store's evening deposit since the report indicated the suspect took possession of a bag bearing the name of a local bank.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Fayetteville Police Department's Criminal Investigations Unit at 770-461-4441.
