Suspect takes cash from Pit Stop store By JOHN
MUNFORD
Peachtree City police have stepped up their patrols at local convenience stores in the wake of a late-night robbery at the Pit Stop store in Peachtree City just before midnight May 8. The suspect, who was unarmed, forcibly took an unreported amount of cash from the cashier on duty, according to a police report on the incident. An acquaintance of the cashier witnessed the incident, the report indicated. The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 6'2", 175 pounds with a mustache and short hair, wearing a black Braves shirt and black jeans. Days after the incident, police investigated a suspicious vehicle matching the description of the vehicle used in the robbery. That vehicle was abandoned in a parking lot next to a convenience store in the Braelinn Village area. The KidsRKids day care center parking lot was put under surveillance and two persons who stopped at the vehicle were later questioned by officers, a report said. During those interviews, it was determined that the vehicle had broken down and the persons wanted to put a sign in the vehicle asking that it not be towed away when the business opened the next day, the reporting officer indicated. The Pit Stop robbery took place after 11:45 p.m. as the store was closing.
