Office-warehouse plan for Falcon Field is approved By JOHN
MUNFORD
A plan to build two office-warehouses and a hangar facility adjacent to Falcon Field Airport has finally been given the go-ahead by the Peachtree City Planning Commission. The Jet Limo building plan had created controversy because of the proposal to eliminate a taxiway easement that allows other nearby landowners access to the airport. But Mike Rossetti, who brought forth the plans, got signed letters from those landowners indicating their approval to abandon the easement. The portion of the property formerly earmarked for the taxiway will now become a detention pond, according to the building plans submitted. The matter had been tabled several times by the Planning Commission due to the dispute that erupted over the proposal to abandon the taxiway. After the meeting, the commission met in a workshop session with Jimmy Halligan of Hyland Developers, which has proposed a 45-home subdivision on 58.4 acres north of Crabapple Lane off Ga. Highway 74. Halligan wanted to resolve all the commission's questions about the concept plan before the matter is brought before the City Council. Attorneys for Hyland Developers have been working with City Attorney Rick Lindsey to work out a way to meet the city's 100-foot undisturbed buffer requirements off local highways. Halligan wants to maintain a small portion of the lots near the highway so he won't have to cut homes from the subdivision. A solution is close, Halligan said, but the council must sign off on the agreement before it's approved. There's a possibility the land could be deeded to the city as a conservation easement while allowing the homeowner to retain the rights to the soil part of the property. In that case, the homeowner would be warned not to disturb any growth in that area, Halligan said.
