March for Jesus scheduled for this Saturday in F'ville By JUDY KILGORE
Fayette County residents will join marchers throughout the nation this Saturday, May 12, when the fourth annual "March for Jesus" parade and rally take place in downtown Fayetteville. The local event is sponsored by the South Metro Minister's Association and will last from 9 a.m. until noon. The march will be in conjunction with similar marches throughout America. Last year's march drew approximately 1,500 participants. Church groups and individuals are encouraged to bring their cars, vans, buses, floats and trucks and assemble at 9 a.m. in the parking lot of Fayette County High School to decorate and line up vehicles and marchers for the parade. Promptly at 10 a.m., the entourage will proceed up Tiger Trail to Hood Avenue, down Hood Avenue to Ga. Highway 85, and south on Hwy. 85 to the fountain in the center of Heritage Park, next to the County Administrative Complex. A March for Jesus Rally at the fountain will involve special praise music, prayer and a short message. "All residents in the area are encouraged to participate in any way they deem appropriate for the occasion, whether riding or marching," said this year's project coordinator, the Rev. Knox Herndon of His House Community Church in Senoia. For information, call Herndon at 770-719-2365.
