PTC parents asked to sign values pledge for Children's Week As part of its Children's Week celebration, the Peachtree City Commission on Children and Youth is asking parents to sign a pledge outlining a number of different values they wish to pass onto their children. The pledge was sent home to parents with a letter explaining the initiative from CCY Chairwoman Tonya Curry. Curry asked parents to sign the pledge and place it on the refrigerator or bulletin board. Among other values, parents signing the pledge commit to encouraging open communication, promoting community and civic responsibilities and the harm of alcohol, tobacco and illegal substance abuse. The pledge also mentions encouraging a high level of sportsmanship and monitoring children's access to the Internet and other forms of "entertainment that makes violence look exciting, funny or acceptable." "It is our hope that this Parent's Pledge reinforces everything that we already know and do as parents and that it serves as a friendly reminder of all of the best that we want for our children," Curry wrote in the letter accompanying the pledge. The mission of CCY is to improve the quality of life for the children and youth of Peachtree City, Curry said.
