This is one of the busiest weekends in recent history.

There is something going on all over the area this weekend and whatever your fancy is, you will be able to find it taking place.

The biggest event is Music Midtown. There will be 11 stages of music set up around SciTrek and the Atlanta Civic Center. Hundreds of bands and artists in almost every musical genre will be playing, including Bob Dylan, Run DMC, Al Green and The Offspring. Tickets are $35 for a three-day pass and can be purchased at any Ticketmaster outlet.

The Atlanta Dixie Classic Bead Festival also is taking place this weekend. There will be many vendors on hand, demonstrations, appraisals and lots of beads. The festival will be from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 5 and 6 at Henderson's Arena in College Park. Admission is $5 for both days. Call 888-729-6904.

Newnan Community Theatre will launch its new production, "The Food Chain" by Nicky Silver, this weekend. The show focuses on several characters' struggles with love. It will be at 8 p.m. May 4 and 5 and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Call 770-683-NCTC or visit http://newnantheatre.com.

The Sandy Creek High School choral department will present "Bandstand Pop Revue" Friday and Saturday, May 4 and 5, 8 p.m. in the Commons Area. You will not want to miss this extravaganza of song and dance as students explore music from the rock 'n' roll era of "American Bandstand." This is the most elaborate production by the choral department of the year. All of the choruses will perform. Selected soloists/duets/groups also will perform to bring back memories of yesteryear. Tickets are $6 at the door. Call the school at 770-969-2840.

The Wild Hearts Show Band, a local country band from Fayetteville, will perform at Moby's Ninth Annual Celebrity Bass Tournament at noon Saturday, May 5. The concert will be at the Lake Allatoona Landing Marine Resort.

Barnes and Noble in Fayetteville will have its children's spring festival at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5. Special guests will include a Wild Thing from "Where The Wild Things Are," Sherrie Cumbie, author of "Adventures of Christi and Coco," and Dr. Terry Maple from Zoo Atlanta and the Zoo Mobile. Maple also will do a presentaton on "Saving the Giant Panda" from noon to 2 p.m.

Azalea Estates also will offer something to the community Saturday. The facility will present a health fair, complete with seminars, booths and screenings, from 9 a.m. to noon. Admission is free. Call Kari Davis at 770-461-0039.

Heritage Harvest Church in Fayetteville will have a craft fair from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. There will be refreshments, a yard sale, a car wash and crafts galore. Call 770-2519197.
