May is Better Hearing Month

Andrew Waits
Clinical Audiologist

Hearing loss affects between 24 and 28 million people in the United States.

Hearing loss is no less debilitating than other physical or psychological conditions. It impacts on educational, vocational, social and cultural activities; relationships with family and friends; and self-esteem.

Without the ability to communicate adequately, persons who have difficulty hearing may slowly withdraw from society, which in turn can worsen physical, emotional and psychological conditions.

If you or someone you love experiences problems don't procrastinate. It does not have to be a problem. When understanding is important, hearing solutions are designed for maximum user satisfaction.

The recent findings of the National Council on the Aging survey summarize the serious psychosocial effects of untreated hearing loss. Also, the recent Journal of the American Medical Association's article reporting the efficiency of hearing aids adds to the growing evidence of how important hearing health is.

Don't let another year pass you by missing the important sounds of your life children, grandchildren, spouse, family, friends and sounds of nature. A hearing evaluation is quick and inexpensive and it will give you a higher quality of life.
