After nearly striking a deputy sheriff's squad car, a local man led police on a brief pursuit through Shiloh Mobile Home Park early Monday evening.

Daniel Richard Murphy, 23, wrecked his Honda right in front of his home and ran off on foot, said Maj. Bruce Jordan. But Murphy was eventually captured, and he faces charges of DUI, obstruction of a police officer, fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer, reckless driving, laying drag and driving while declared a habitual violator.

Dep. T.A. Hoyt was filling out a report in his parked patrol car behind the Publix grocery store when Murphy's car passed by, almost striking Hoyt's vehicle. Hoyt began pursuit until Murphy wiped out in front of his home at 833 Broken Bow Drive, Jordan said.

"He drove right at the patrol car," Jordan said of the incident, which was reported at 7:08 p.m.

No one was hurt during the pursuit and apprehension of Murphy, Jordan added.
