Street of Dreams opens next week

For years, the perception of the south side of town by north side residents was something less than desirable.

Well, times have changed and now it's time to call your friends and invite them to the Street of Dreams starting this weekend.

Street of Dreams is a showcase of some of the most fabulous homes in the region and this year's spring show is at Arbor Springs Plantation in Newnan.

This is the first time the show has been south of downtown Atlanta, and officials are expecting more than 40,000 visitors to gawk at the latest in home design and furnishings.

The homes start at $625,000 unfurnished, but range up to nearly $1 million if you want to buy one all decked out.

The five homes on the tour offer the latest innovations in home building, with touches of classic architecture.

One of the more interesting features at one of the homes, the Weatherby, is the sumptuous media room. One wall is covered by an enormous screen that you can show the latest DVD releases on and experience it like a true theater experience. The sound system, featuring built-in speakers and an enormous sub-woofer, gives you the feeling of being inside the movie.

All of the homes feature enormous master suites complete with multiple shower heads and closets that seem to go on for days.

The homes are also extensively landscaped and blend into the heavily wooded lots.

Tickets for the show are $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and children 4-12, and free for children under 3.

The show runs April 28-June 3. Arbor Springs is just off Interstate 85, exit 51, on Arbor Springs Plantation Drive.

Residents in Coweta County can go straight up Ga. Highway 154 north to reach the show.
