SF Medical Center gets shot in the arm By JOHN

One of South Fulton's oldest health providers got healthier Monday. Tenet Healthcare Corporation announced that it was acquiring South Fulton Medical Center. South Fulton will now join four other hospitals that comprise Tenet's greater Atlanta network. "We look forward to a long and successful stewardship with South Fulton Medical Center and the community it serves," said Reynold Jennings, executive vice president of operations for Tenet's Southeast Division. The company has pledged more than $10 million in improvements to the facility and an expansion of its emergency room. South Fulton Medical Center is in East Point and serves more than 40,000 outpatients, 10,000 inpatients and 42,000 emergency patients each year. The hospital is celebrating 38 years of serving the south metro area. The company also maintains facilities in Peachtree City, College Park and Newnan. The hospital has 369 beds and a staff of 1,000. Tenet maintains facilities in 17 states with more than 26,000 beds and 103,000 employees. William Moore will serve as chief executive officer of Tenet South Fulton Inc. Moore has served as CEO of Lutheran Medical Center in St. Louis.
