Activities slated for Children's Week in PTC Beginning Monday, Peachtree City will celebrate Children's Week along with several events designed to recognize local youths and their contributions to the community. A Youth Cultural Night will be held at the city library April 26 beginning at 7 p.m. This event will feature several performances by local youths. A group of young vocalists under the leadership of Pia Ugarte is also scheduled to perform. Also, the Commission on Children and Youth has scheduled a Community Clean Up Day April 28 at the Fayette Family YMCA Play Park off Ga. Highway 54 at Huiet Road. The park was built by Fayette residents and donated to the YMCA over five years ago. The annual upkeep of the park is over $10,000. The cleanup activities will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. Anyone who can come help, even for a short period of time, is welcome to join in. Participants are asked to bring a rake, a shovel or a wheelbarrow to help pitch in. The project will be supervised by the YMCA board of directors. Also, the CCY plans to recognize local youths for their acts of kindness in performing community service projects. The CCY has sought nominations from adults and others to select youths who should be recognized for the program. The winners will be recognized at the next CCY meeting May 1 at City Hall. All youths and/or groups who have committed to and accomplished a project will be recognized at that meeting also. To register a group for this recognition, contact Bernice Wassell at 770-631-2542.
