Two youths collared as cart thieves
By JOHN
MUNFORD
Police have apprehended two juveniles they claim are responsible for a rash of golf cart thefts in Peachtree City. The youths are suspected of working together on three of the five cart thefts, while one of the juveniles is also suspected of two additional cart thefts. The thefts occurred between April 2 and April 7 at K-Mart, the El Ranchero restaurant at the Braelinn shopping center (twice), the Y-Knot sports bar and a residence on Cloister Drive, according to police reports. One of the youths has been charged with seven counts of theft by taking a motor vehicle (golf cart) along with loitering and prowling and obstruction of a law enforcement officer. The other suspect was charged with three counts of theft by taking a motor vehicle (golf cart) and criminal trespassing. They will face those charges in Fayette County's juvenile court. The suspects' names were not released due to a Georgia law that protects juveniles who commit crimes from being named publicly except for several violent offenses.
