Hospice holds open house

Portsbridge Hospice is celebrating four years of operation in Riverdale with an open house this Saturday.

The hospice is at 1335 Lake Ridge Parkway in Riverdale and the company has been providing end-of-life care in the Atlanta region since 1993.

Portsbridge has served more than 5,000 patients and their families throughout a 29-county service area. Nearly 80 percent of the patients are over 65 and the most frequent illness seen at the center is cancer.

The hospice provides services at the inpatient facility, as well as respite, home care and care for nursing home residents.

The center is staffed with physician medical directors, registered nurses, social workers, chaplains and certified nursing assistants.

Persons are able to receive hospice services regardless of their ability to pay. Portsbridge provides services to patients with Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance. They also accept indigent patients.

The staff urges residents to come and visit the facilities Saturday. Refreshments will be served. For information, phone 770-994-6569.
