It can be difficult to drive very far in any direction in Fayette or Coweta without seeing construction, particularly home construction. A number of builders have provided literally tens of thousands of local residents with roofs over their heads, and some have seen exceptional success and longevity in the process as they continue to work in their own community and help fuel the local economy. Here is just a sampling of local builders and their current projects.
Ravin Homes A family-owned business, Ravin Homes got its name from the first names of its two original partners Ray and Vince. Michael Rossetti, Vince Rossetti's son, is now the head of the company, according to DeSales Rossetti DeGolian, his sister and Ravin's sales manager. The family has been in Fayette County since 1974, and Ravin Homes was incorporated in 1982. Since then, they have left their mark from one end of the county to theother. Peachtree City neighborhoods such as Interlochen, Planterra Ridge and much of Kedron have homes built by Ravin, along with Stonebriar in Fayetteville. Their current project, Cedarcroft, is the only one where Ravin Homes is the sole builder. Cedarcroft is in development in the western end of Peachtree City, north of Ga. Highway 54 off the new MacDuff Parkway. In addition to building more than 1,000 homes, Ravin has done its share of commercial development. The company's own offices are located in Governors Square on the east side of Peachtree City, which is a Ravin development.
Bob Adams Homes According to marketing manager Peggy Davenport, Bob Adams Homes has been building in Fayette County for about 18 years. Residential projects on the Bob Adams resume include Village Park and St. Simons Cove in Peachtree City, as well as St. Andrews Place in Fayetteville. The firm's biggest local project right now is Lexington Park, which Adams hopes will eventually contain a mix of commercial, townhome and single-family detached home development. Only the detached homes are being built at the moment, Davenport said, as the company and the city continue to look at how they want the final mix to be. The majority of homes now being built by Bob Adams Homes fall into a specific lifestyle category, with houses and lots requiring very little maintenance. It's a style that is becoming more popular, according to Davenport. "The lifestyle is what people are buying," she said. In addition to the more obvious clients, such as retired people and empty-nesters, these homes are also looking attractive to single women and others who just don't want to cut grass and clean gutters, Davenport said. "They want beautiful homes and elegance without the hassle."
Chris Dixon and Associates Another second-generation builder and developer, Chris Dixon has been in the building business since his early teens, according to Jane Foster of Lee-Dixon Realty, whose broker is Chris' father. Stonebriar and Magnolia Ridge in Fayetteville, Braeburn and White Oak in Coweta County, Country Lakes in Fayette County all of these communities contain Chris Dixon homes. Of his 18 years as a builder, all in this area, seven have been under the name Chris Dixon and Associates, Foster said. In addition to several hundred homes in Fayette and Coweta, Dixon's work can also be seen in Spalding County. Stonebriar Place and Stonebriar West, the two final phases of the Stonebriar development, are now underway, Foster said. Dixon is also the developer for Apple Orchard in Fayetteville.
John Wieland Homes While a well-known name all over metro Atlanta, John Wieland has an exceptionally large number of homes in Fayette. Founded in 1970, Wieland is currently building in 62 neighborhoods in the Southeast, with 1,244 closings and revenues of $439 million last year. Among his nearly 400 awards, Wieland has been named National Builder of the Year. Locally, a number of developments in Peachtree City, Fayetteville and elsewhere in the county bear the Wieland name. Upcoming projects include Southampton, a 292-home development in Tyrone, and Centennial, slated for the West Village area of Peachtree City with 350 home planned, including some townhomes, according to a company spokesperson. The company plans to donate land for an elementary school as part of the Centennial project. Other current developments include Lakeside on Redwine just south of Fayetteville and The Regency, master-planned gated community in the Cascade area of south Atlanta.
